Gold Mountain Golf Club

Gold Mountain Golf Club is the latest addition to the northern Thai golf scene. Currently it is in a –˜soft opening–™ phase and conditions are a bit rough, though all 18 holes are open for play. The front nine opened in 2009 and the back nine earlier this year. The clubhouse won–™t be finished until 2010. For now the caddie shack serves as a limited service clubhouse and serves up a bit of Thai food along with an assortment of beverages.

Gold Mountain is located near Lamphun, just over an hour–™s drive from Chiang Mai. The location is a bit remote, and in fact they don–™t even have a landline phone yet. Finding it is not easy, as the entrance road at this time is a small and almost hidden dirt track over a hill with no indication of a golf course from the main road other than a small hand painted sign, in Thai, lying on the ground next to the dirt road.

Royal Chiangmai Golf Resort

The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Course was designed by Peter Thompson, five times British Open Champion. The design is reminiscent of a traditional British Parkland course with some interesting “links” additions. The course is heavily tree-lined and water hazards are in play on almost every hole. The “Rough” is true to the meaning of the word.

From the very back “blue” tees the course measures over 7,200 yards and can be a severe test, but from the men’s “white” tees the course is pleasant and relaxing. Bunkers use local sand from The Mae Ping river.
The greens are Tiff Dwarf Bermuda with Bermuda 419 and Zoysia fairways. The course has a driving range and two practice putting and chipping greens.

Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club

The remarkable element of the Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club is the design that is harmonious to the beautiful Lanna Art.   The roofing tiles are teak.   It reflects an identify of the north distinctly and synthesizes with the perfect facilities and the impressive service. The  lay out of the course is flat table where every hole is encircled by lake and embraced mountains of Chiangmai.

The course is 7,202  yards long and 72 pars.  Each hole has it identical tee off for professional ,amateur and lady golfer. Obstacle around the course are rough, bunker and water  hazard.  The rough of the green of the Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club is rather thick and long.     A golfer whose play is out of fairway if   falling in rough shall meet lots of obstacals.
